We adopted Kaylee on August 30, 2009 from the Austin Humane Society and brought her home the next day. They had her under the temporary name of Angelina. Her breed was listed as a Norwegian Forest Cat mix.

Kaylee was around eight weeks old when we got her. She turned out to be a relatively small cat, but she was stunningly beautiful and quite fearless. She loved being petted and cuddled, although she was never demanding. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone.

Our very large dog Denali fell in love with her as soon as he joined the household. It took a while for them to work out appropriate ways of relating, but Kaylee was patient with him. They ended up as very good friends. He had clearly always wanted a cat and he was so happy to have one.

After Abby passed away, Kaylee took care of Bob. She was friendly and comforting. After a while she took to sleeping next to him every night, which seemed to be good for bothof them.

Kaylee was diagnosed with kidney disease when she was around seven. Mitigating it took increasing efforts over time, but she never seemed to mind. She far outlasted anyone's estimate of how long she had.

She passed away on August 27th of 2025. We held her and petted her as she went. Kaylee will always be loved.
